About This Property
A French farmhouse in Glendale? Almost. With its storybook rooflines, turreted entry and wonderfully intact 1920s character, 1017 Howard Street brings an unexpected touch of the French countryside to Rossmoyne. Built in 1928, this four-bedroom, three-bath French Normandy home offers 2,817 square feet and a remarkably generous floor plan, with the warmth and architectural detail that give homes of this era their enduring appeal. Inside, recently refinished hardwood floors run through gracious, beautifully proportioned rooms. The living room is especially memorable, with exposed beams, a fireplace, textured walls and original windows lending depth and character to the space. A lovely formal dining room sits nearby, while the spacious cook's kitchen has abundant counter space, a substantial island and an oversized breakfast area that feels made for lingering over coffee or gathering around the table. The layout is one of the home's greatest strengths. Three bedrooms are located on the main level, along with a separate family room that opens directly to the side yard. Upstairs, tucked beneath the steeply pitched roofline, a fourth bedroom with an ensuite bath feels like a private hideaway, with additional attic storage nearby. There is even more storage in the basement, while the converted garage offers a separate studio with possibilities for work, creative pursuits or simply extra space. Brand-new central heating and air conditioning adds a welcome modern update. Outside, the home continues to surprise. A fenced backyard, brick patio beneath a pergola and side garden create several distinct places to spend time outdoors, with multiple points of access making the spaces feel naturally connected to the house. Set in Rossmoyne, the location puts neighborhood shopping, parks, Trader Joe's and Whole Foods within easy reach. Full of character, generous in scale and refreshingly individual, 1017 Howard is a little bit of France with a distinctly Glendale address.
