One of a kind, award winning "Castle House" in the adobe only area of Las Palmas. This home was built by The Weir Bros in 1964 and has been lovingly maintained by four Escondido families over the years & is ready for its new caretakers. This beautiful home has a newer roof, original floors, hand carved doors, a large entertainers kitchen, huge master bed & bath, as well as open beam ceilings throughout. The property is on over 1.6 acres and has a separate 3 car garage with a large guest house upstairs. This home was featured on the 2014 San Diego County Adobe home Tour, and has been awarded a historic preservation award from the Escondido Historic Preservation Committee. Ask the listing agent about the opportunity to have this home added to the Mills Act for significant property tax savings. Many of the systems are newer and or upgraded. New septic system, heat and ac, whole house fan, water heater, etc.... Here is a short write up from the tour about its history... Features such as the curved-wall turret, the airy living room, brick fireplace, true parquet flooring and heavy ceiling beams are strong contributors to the Weir construction style. Be sure to check out the “horno” clay oven outside as well as the outdoor fireplace and gardens. The patio facing the front of the house was added later outside the master bedroom. ZIP averages use publicly displayable closed sales from our licensed MLS feed, matched to the same ZIP and exact property type. Months with fewer than 3 sales are omitted; the current month is incomplete. Lines connect available monthly observations across gaps and do not represent measured prices in missing months. These averages are not adjusted for size, condition, or location within the ZIP, and are not an appraisal. Feed coverage may not include every sale. All available shows the available home and ZIP history, with mortgage rates over the same dates.
Mortgage benchmark: Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey®. © Freddie Mac. Weekly national 30-year fixed rates, not APRs or a loan quote. Actual terms vary. Methodology changed in November 2022. The chart does not establish that interest-rate changes caused a home’s price changes.
Lines connect recorded asking and sale prices. They are visual guides, not estimates of the home’s value between those dates.
No earlier records were returned by our current sources. This does not mean the home has never sold.
