This parcel is located in the Chalone American Viticultural Area of the Gabilan Mountains. This 8,640 acre area in the shadows of Pinnacle National Park is world-renowned for the high-quality wine produced in the region. The Gabilan bench is one of the few places in the world where limestone, decomposed granite and volcanic rock co-exist to create ideal drainage for grapes to grow. Wines produced in this region tend to have a flinty mineral aspect from the oceanic soil. The anchor vineyard of the region is Chalone Vineyard, the 1,000 acre parcel immediately to the east of the parcel in question. Chalone Vineyards consists of 240 acres actively being used for vineyards and is currently owned by Foley Family Wines who purchased the winery from UK-based beverage giant Diageo in 2016 for an undisclosed amount; Diageo purchased the vineyard for $260M in 1998. Listings within Chalone AVA are scarce, with none being available in the region at the moment other than this listing. This parcel has varied terrain, but is suitable for agricultural use. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to purchase coveted land in this region. New photos and more information coming soon! This is an auction property, with the listing price being the current starting bid. Items pictured on the land are NOT included.

Months with fewer than 3 sales are omitted; the current month is incomplete. Lines connect available monthly observations across gaps and do not represent measured prices in missing months. These averages are not adjusted for size, condition, or location within the ZIP, and are not an appraisal. Feed coverage may not include every sale. All available shows the available home and ZIP history, with mortgage rates over the same dates.
Mortgage benchmark: Freddie Mac Primary Mortgage Market Survey®. © Freddie Mac. Weekly national 30-year fixed rates, not APRs or a loan quote. Actual terms vary. Methodology changed in November 2022. The chart does not establish that interest-rate changes caused a home’s price changes.
Lines connect recorded asking and sale prices. They are visual guides, not estimates of the home’s value between those dates.
No earlier records were returned by our current sources. This does not mean the home has never sold.
MLS records may be incomplete. Earlier asking prices are not sale prices.
